Reflections at the Buttes is one of the first wedding venues I had the pleasure of photographing at in Arizona, after moving my business headquarters to Tucson in December of 2004.
What struck me right away is how organized and efficient their staff is there. Weddings are their primary business and they do their part to ensure every wedding they book runs as smoothly as possible. When a venue operates in this manner, it actually makes my job, as the wedding photographer a bit easier, too.
Lyndsy and Poncho
The images above, from the wedding of Lindsay and Poncho, show a panorama view of the ceremony site. The gazebo generally serves as the alter area for outdoor ceremonies. The ceremony site is beautifully backdropped by Pusch Ridge and the magnificent Santa Catalina Mountains.
Lindsay and Poncho
Photographing the bride and groom, being able to use my creativity doing it, is my most favorite part of the day. The window for taking bride and groom photos, during the course of a wedding day is very short. When everything goes according to schedule, I get to spend about fifteen to twenty minutes, on average. It is a luxury when I happen to get spend more time, with the bride and groom, than that.
The Blind Fold
This is a little segment called - The Blindfold. The disc jockey asked the man who caught the garter, to put it on the leg of the woman who caught the bouquet, blindfolded. The girl, who caught the bouquet, would later be asked to switch chairs with the groom. I congratulate this guest for taking it in stride, in the merriment of the moment. A lesser man may not have reacted, quite as graciously.
Michelle - Walks the Walk
After striking a few poses, Michelle is escorted down the isle, by her father, at the Reflections at the Buttes, in Oro Valley.
December Wedding
The wedding of Michelle and Stephen was on December 22, a day after the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year.
Michelle and Stephen
Darkness descended upon us, sooon after the ceremony. Michelle and Stephen decided not to do group pictures, before ceremony, during daylight hours. The choice is theirs. Either way, would have worked for me.
The Incident at Reflections at the Buttes
What processed, Michelle, a sweet and innocent girl, to start something so messy is somewhat of a mystery, but her guest seemed to enjoy it! Do not try this at home, kids!
