Wedding Photographer in Tucson - I no longer photograph weddings.
Congratulations on your engagement!
I no longer photographing weddings. After shooting over five hundred weddings, I felt my passion for them beginning to wane. When that happens, it is time to turn the page and begin a new chapter. I am still available to photograph bride and groom photos in studio, on or after your wedding day. Additionally, I am also still actively taking headshots and other portraits. Remember, everybody needs a professional headshot for their profile pics.
I not only wanted to find a photographer who could capture our day, but also someone who really would make this an enjoyable experience for everyone, while at the same time could keep within our budget. I almost thought I would not find all those qualities in a photographer, so I am extremely grateful I found and chose Paul Van Helden Photography. He not only took the time to get to know our vision for the day, but he made us both extremely comfortable while capturing some of the most valued pictures we have of each other. His creativeness in his photos, attention to detail, flexibility, and care for what he does is top notch and I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation. ~ Tracy (*Wedding Wire Review)

Paul Van Helden is amazing. He is so talented! His photos are simply beautiful. You can tell that he loves what he does. His passion for photography shines through his work. Not only is he talented, he is SO fair in his pricing! My husband and I received gorgeous photos and we didn't go bankrupt in the process! I come from a family of artists and I am very picky, but Paul exceeded my expectations in every way. I really cannot describe how fortunate I feel to have these beautiful memories recorded for all time. Thank you Paul for your fairness, your professionalism, and your amazing talent. ~ Erin (Wedding Wire Review)

Although I often book weddings, without the luxury of being able to meet with the bride and groom first, it is always a good idea for couples to set up a consultation to discuss their wedding day plans, whenever it is possible. It can be in person or over the phone. Most wedding couples only plan a wedding day once, or twice. So, even if you feel you have all the bases covered, you are bound to learn a few things, you may not have considered before. During your stay, you will be able to leisurely browse through my display albums, as we discuss the details of your wedding and the best way(s) I can go about capturing your day.

Wedding Photographers in Tucson
I know you have lots of choices for wedding photographers in Tucson. So, why choose me? First, it is important to note, unlike many studios and some wedding photographers, I do not sublet my services out to other photographers. This means that when you book me to capture the special moments of your wedding day, you are actually getting me, an accomplished and experienced wedding photographer, who absolutely knows what he is doing, who will make your day run as smoothly as possible and will work very hard to make you happy.
Secondly, I believe that when you truly take the time to analyze the full extent of the service I provide, including pre-production planning and post-production editing work, my product cannot be beat, at the price that I have made it available. However, that is your determination and decision to make. Hopefully, you will agree! If not, I will tip my cap to other person.
My Wedding Photography Background
I started shooting weddings, by working for a photography studio, in Franklin, Massachusetts, first as an assistant to a wedding photographer, then as a backup photographer. The studio booked many weddings, three to four on some weekends. I was one in a revolving door of aspiring wedding photographers to come through the studio, but the only one that I can recall in all my time there, to make it all the way to the goal line. I was very determined but also very fortunate. Murphys Law is alive and well, when it comes to novice wedding photographers. In retrospect, given everything that could have gone wrong, during that break in period, I think someone truly must have wanted me to do this.
I went on to become the main wedding photographer for the studio, a capacity in which I served for five years, before opening my own business in Bellingham, Massachusetts, primarily as a wedding photographer and engagement photographer. I succeeded to photograph hundreds of weddings in the Boston area and throughout New England.
After nine years of running my wedding photography business in Massachusetts, quality of life issues on the street where I lived caused me to reexamine my future on the east coast and led to my relocating to Tucson, Arizona, in 2004, where a few of my family members had already taken residence. It is a move, I have never regretted. My love for this landscape and the southwest, in general, goes back long before I settled here.
