For professional wedding photographers, editing images is a must. One way to explain the difference between an edited image and one that hasn’t been edited, is to think in terms of a newly constructed wall that still needs some finishing touches. You can leave it that way, but it most cases, it would look better if you applied some paint and other things.
What many wedding couples may not realize is how much time most wedding photographers spend doing this. Before my old prices, I used to spend an average of four hours editing for every one hour of photography coverage and, I should point out, I’m not exactly new to this. I have been editing images, since 1999. After twenty years you become pretty proficient at what you do.
In order to make my new prices more affordable, I have reduced the amount of time I spend editing, by providing most of your images fully edited and the rest only partially edited.
The Editing Process
1) Your images are first uploaded from flash cards to computer. Once uploaded, the images are then gleaned for quality. Images that do not pass my high professional standards are given one star and will not be provided to you. (Examples of One Star images include any images with the main subjects eyes closed, any images that show the main person(s) in an unflattering way. Any images that may be technically imperfect will also be withheld.)
2) All remaining images will be partially edited first. This includes color correction and adjustments for brightness and contrast, as needed.
3) Images selected for FULL EDITING, as outlined in my packages, undergo further editing work in the digital darkroom. This include dodging, burning, cutting, pasting, fixing facial features, applying filters, removing any undesirable elements, basically, doing whatever it takes to enhance an image overall appearance.
NOTE: You can select the images for full editing from those that have been partially edited. That will be your choice. However, from my experience most couples find that to be an overwhelming task and generally leave it up to me.
